Will I be a good parent?
How will I cope with the pain of labour?
What if I have a miscarriage?
How is the baby going to change our relationship?
How will I manage my career?
These may be some of the thoughts running through your mind during pregnancy. Pregnancy can be an emotional roller coaster, one minute you’re ecstatic and can’t wait to meet your new baby, the next you’re thinking ‘what have I done?’ Maybe you’ve been planning this for so long and now you’re thrilled that it’s finally happened, but also a little scared. Or perhaps this wasn’t planned and you’re still trying to wrap your head around it. You may already have children and you’re not sure how this new baby is going to fit into your family. Pregnancy can be an exciting and exhilarating time but having some fears and anxieties is only natural.
You want to feel connected to your growing baby. You want to enjoy this time and use it to prepare for your growing family in a productive way. I can guide you through the stresses and anxieties of pregnancy. I will help you prepare for the birth of your baby and the first few months of parenthood. Together we can figure out how the baby will fit in with the current important relationships in your life, such as a partner, existing children or other close family members.
I believe that a good relationship is the most important part of a therapeutic partnership. It’s hard to share your innermost thoughts with someone that you don’t feel comfortable and connected with so for this reason I offer a free 20 minute consultation for us to get to know each other before you make a decision about working with me.
