“I wish someone could understand what I’m going through as a mom”.
“I wanted to be a mom so badly but I didn’t know how hard it was going to be. Does it ever get any easier?
“I thought having a baby was going to be a wonderful, joyful experience but I’m so overwhelmed.”
Does this sound familiar? Often we are told that being a mom is the best job in the world and you will love your baby more than anything the moment you set eyes on her. This is not the experience for everyone and that’s ok. Everyone’s motherhood journey is different. It’s not uncommon to feel sad, disconnected and exhausted. These feelings don’t make you a bad mother. I understand that you want to feel connected to your family and enjoy spending time with your children. You want to feel fulfilled and validated as a mother.
In our work together I will learn about your life experiences, feelings and beliefs and how they might be affecting your current situation. Using this information I will help you recognize and change unhelpful recurring patterns. I believe that you are a capable person with your own unique abilities and my job is to help you uncover the resources you already possess, while also providing you with new coping strategies and techniques. Being a mom may be the best job in the world, but it’s also the hardest – counselling can help.
